A Brief Biography
Background
Maurice Gleeson was born in Dublin, Ireland, on the 18th June 1961, a forceps delivery (he still has them). After his schooling in Blackrock College, Maurice studied medicine in University College Dublin. His medical work took him from his native Dublin to Kenya, Belfast, Liverpool and eventually London, where he has been resident for the past 14 years. In the photo we see Maurice in the snake-infested river near Matelot on the north coast of Trinidad. He returns there for Carnival on an annual basis. Most recently he has slept overnight in the jungle.
He launched his acting career in May 2000 having completed his training at Mountview Theatre School. Maurice's acting is informed by previous careers as a psychiatrist in London's East End and 9 years of drug development in the Pharmaceutical Industry. He is a really, really nice guy and great to work with.

Experience and Interests
Maurice has a good deal of TV experience having played Dr Vincent Laurence in 4 episodes of the Trinidadian soap WESTWOOD PARK, and more recently appearing in HEAR THE SILENCE for Channel 5 (with Hugh Bonneville and Juliet Stevenson), DUTCH BIRD (with David Kelly), and THE GREAT DOME ROBBERY for United TV.
His stage performances have attracted praise from the four corners of the world:
- in STICKS AND STONES at the Bridewell Theatre near London's West End, he received the "acting accolade" from the Irish Post.
- in BOOM BOOM MR GOAT it was said: "the actor most capable of making us believe in this slice of the world gone mad is Maurice Gleeson ... - he is utterly professional and a pleasure to watch" (Camden New Journal)
- in !RUNNERS, Time Out said "excellent turns from ... Maurice Gleeson as the prim, oily Dr Ralf" whereas What's On said "delivered particularly well by Maurice Gleeson".
Maurice's particular interests include theatre, cinema, and being at one with nature, but instead he spends much of his time worrying about home improvements.
